Which SmartPhone to Choose?

Gone are the days when cellular phones are used only for making telephone calls. With the dawn of the smartphone, which allows the user to access the internet, traditional cell phones continue to be sold, but in much smaller numbers. Are you having problems deciding which smart phone to choose? What will you use it for? Obviously you get a cellular or smartphone, to communicate with another person. However, there’s so much you can do with one of these phones, you may have other reasons to get one. Do you need to surf the mobile internet? What about sending email or Twittering? If you don’t need these functions, you may still choose a traditional phone.

  • How do you type? Some people don’t mind using their number pad when typing; however others prefer having a slide out keyboard. Some smartphones use touch-screen technology. To help you decide which type of phone to get, deciding on how much typing you’ll do and which keyboard format is best for you, may help.
  • How will you access the internet? Most smart phones have the ability to access the internet with Wi-Fi. This enables you to access the internet when you find a wireless hotspot and do so without using your data plan which makes your cellular bill cheaper when using it at some locations.
  • What applications do you need? Smartphones are so easy to customize. Third-party applications, some open source, are available using the mobile internet. You can also find new applications on the manufacturer’s website for your particular smartphone. Depending upon the smart phone you own, you may be able to find up to 50,000 or more applications to choose from.

These suggested questions may not give you a specific recommendation as to which smartphone to choose, but they may give you some things to consider about what features you need based on how you intend to use your smartphone.
